Learning to drive a car can be a fun and exciting experience. There are driving schools where you can take practical driving training. It’s also a good idea to try out some driving simulation apps on your smartphone to prepare yourself.
I am not suggesting that you download and play racing games on your smartphone here. They can be a lot of fun, but they were never meant to teach you how to drive safely. Where you never get the chance to have a second life with a new car in real life after performing stunts like you do in Asphalt 9. I’m talking about apps that teach you safety rules, how to parking, how to change lanes, etc.
While the whole training might seem mundane, the apps can help you quickly follow the rules and other aspects. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee you have to use them while driving.
Getting a driver’s license requires a long list of tests, whether it’s a written test, where your knowledge of the road is checked, or a driving test, which puts you in a realistic driving scenario. While most people can attend driving school or practice using the car at home. You can really sharpen your knowledge with theory lessons like road signs, take written tests, and even get a feel for how to park cars just with your phone. So, if you want to pass the driving test, here are the best driving lesson apps for iOS and Android.
Best driving education apps
1. Learn to drive offline
Before you even think about hitting the accelerator, you should have some idea of the car, its components, and how it works. Think of it as a lesson before you actually drive. The application contains four sections with very simple text explanation, these are car control (basic info. About gearbox, pedals), section to start driving (how to put the car in mode gearbox, changing the transmission), basic traffic rules, and finally, Driving Tips and Tricks. These explanations also contain images to help you better visualize.
It’s a great starting point for someone who doesn’t know how to drive yet but wants to learn more. The app has banner ads at the top, but they are not intrusive and the app works offline as well. Here is a similar app on iOS.

2. Learn to drive
This app fills the gap created by the previous app with animated visual videos to help you better understand aspects of driving. For example, the app consists of animations of various realistic driving situations such as intersections, pedestrian crossing lanes, safe driving around the roundabout, etc. Animations are minimal and the narration gives you a clear understanding of road etiquette.
The app contains very few free videos. You can either download all courses for $13 or get individual courses of your choice for $4.

3. USA practice test and traffic signs
Here is the question, What is the difference between a dotted line and a double solid line on a road? If you are unable to answer this question, prepare well as these road signs are prevalent in test drives. This application will help you to know the different traffic signs as well as the basic rules of the road which are explained with text and illustrations. Once you’re confident, start with the short section, which contains over 20 of the 20 quizzes. That’s all you need to master road signs.
The app has banner ads at the bottom and there’s no way to get rid of them, but it works offline, so that’s no problem!

4. DMV Permit Practice Test Genius
Every driving test may differ from state to state in every country in the world and the previous traffic signs and road signs test is one of them. Hence the need for this much-loved driving education app. The first step is to decide in which state you will take your test (also a universal option). Then you have to choose whether you are applying for a license to drive a car, a commercial vehicle or a motorcycle, and you are set. The app contains an extensive collection of questions and practice tests based on the state-specific Driver’s Handbook, to better prepare you with state-specific information.
The app also has a premium version that unlocks more training pages, access tips, and removes ads. This premium version costs $12.

5. Manis 2 parking lot
Parking your car is the most difficult driving test. This parking game will make you think about car movement in any parking spot. Gameplay includes accelerating, reversing, parking with a trailer, roundabout management, and even dodging other vehicles. Moreover, you can also drive your car in the area in addition to the challenge. The only problem is that as soon as you touch another surface, you get negative points.
The game is free and contains no ads. You have a lot of missions, obstacles and live traffic which can get tricky at times, so if you’re looking forward to getting your driver’s license, this game is a must!

6- Driving School 2020
This game uses realistic driving simulation to teach you whether or not you are wearing a seat belt (the app reminds you) or when the turn signal is on. You’ll get a prompt as soon as you make a mistake, so you’ll know it and won’t repeat it next time. The nicest thing about the UI is the gameplay controls. You have a manual gearbox like a real car, windscreen wiper, headlight switch and much more. The game’s overall user interface might be a bit basic, but for someone who can’t drive, it could be a good start.
The app is free. However, there are many functions, car options are unlocked and can be upgraded through in-app purchases. It also removes annoying ads.

7. Driving Academy – Driver Simulator
This simulation application is similar to the previous one. However, you get more flexibility in terms of car selection, night driving, and coasting, options that were missing in the previous app. However, if you want to try these features, you need to complete the levels one by one in the app. These levels consist of over 90 road sign tests which are also great for review. You can also choose to control the direction from left or right, depending on the country you are in.
I would have liked the driving to be free, the night driving stage was open to testing but only if it was to learn to drive. The reward after completing the stages is more reasonable. Ads can be removed for $0.5 with more options for in-app purchases.

So these are the best driving lessons apps you can get on iOS and Android. I strongly suggest anyone who has not yet taken a driving test to have a good understanding of the theoretical concepts. Take the practice test with the DMV app and also learn as many traffic signs as possible. Driving simulation games are also great, however, if you can convince your family or friends to teach you in an empty space, the hands-on experience will be much better than the one on your phone! I hope you have more clarity on the test drives now. I wish you the best.
