How to Download Instagram Stories on iPhone

Posted on

Instagram stories have definitely been a game changer in the world of social media. Although the idea originated in Instagram’s Snapchat contest, no one cares to remember it. This is because Instagram has made a brilliant move by introducing stories.

But the stories disappear after a few hours. Usually forever. You can save your own stories in highlights, but it still doesn’t upload them. If you want to download stories to your iPhone, you’ll need to take a different approach.

How to save individual stories

Recording a story is actually very easy. Go ahead, add that story. Now go to the homepage and swipe the stories (circular images) all the way to the left. The leftmost circular image will be your own profile picture, representing your stories. Tap here and you will be able to see all of your currently active stories. Otherwise, go to your Instagram profile and tap on your profile picture to view your stories.

Once you find the story you want to save, tap the three-dot icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Here you will find the To safeguard… option. Press it. Depending on whether your story is a photo or a video, you will have the option to select save picture Where Save Video. Tap these buttons and your whole story will be saved in Photos. The timer and all the information usually located at the top of the story screen will not be visible.

A save history option will also be available. It does something else.

How to Save All Current Stories

By using the save history The option will save all of your currently available stories. This option will make a video of your current stories whether they are photos or videos. The timing will be the same as when watching the stories on Instagram.

Like with save picture Where Save Video, no content other than the actual stories will be visible. It will just be a video of your entire story experience.

Save stories from other people

Unfortunately, if someone doesn’t save their story as part of their Highlights collection, you will never be able to access that story again after the 24 hours expire. The easiest method here is, well, to take a screenshot. Of course, it depends on the iOS or iPhone model.

For example, to take a screenshot on older iPhones up to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, you need to press the lock button located on the right side of the phone and the center home button located in the front. However, newer full-screen ones use the lock button and volume up button simultaneously.

This is how you capture a story. But what if you want a story to be saved, without all the Instagram information (who posted it, when it was posted, and the option to send a message)? Well, if you long press on the story in the middle of the screen, every detail will disappear, leaving you with a clear picture of the story. Now take a screenshot.

Oh, but what if you want to record a video story? Well, you have the trusty screen recording option. To make this feature available, go to the Settings app on the home screen, go to Control centerthen select Customize controls. To find Screen recording on the list and press the + sign beside.

Now swipe up from the bottom of the screen on older iPhones or down from the top right corner of the screen. Now find and tap the screen recording icon, resembling a REC symbol. This will record your screen until you stop recording by tapping the red line at the top of the screen.
