Instagram Stories is one of the app’s most popular features. But, unfortunately, Instagram does not allow you to download the content that users upload. Luckily, there are apps for Android and iPhone (iOS) devices that will help you do just that.
In this article, we’ll explain everything you need to know and also offer an alternative solution that might work better for you.
Download Instagram Stories to your iPhone (iOS)
Although there are many other solutions on the App Store, ReShare Story for Instagram has everything you need and more! Don’t let the name confuse you. This app will not only allow you to repost someone’s story but also keep it on your device. The reason we like this option is its simplicity. After downloading the app, all you have to do is log in to your account and you will see the list of all the people you follow. Press one of them, and voila! You’ll not only see thumbnails of all their stories, but also the most recent highlights and media. Tap on the content and choose Save & Copy Caption option, and it will be on your device soon.
Of course, you can download content from accounts you don’t follow, as long as they’re open to everyone. Reshare Story for Instagram also has an excellent Story Creator tool. This allows you to easily re-upload your old content and even edit it a bit to make it look fresh. Also, you can view stories anonymously. There is a Pro version for $9.99, but the free option will be enough for most users.
Download Instagram stories to your Android device
While ReShare Story for Instagram is also available for Android, the Story Saver app is our preferred solution. This free app requires you to log in before showing you a list of all the accounts you follow. Moreover, you can use the search option for any other profile and check out their stories and highlights. After tapping on the content, the app will allow you to save it to your device, share it or repost it. Moreover, you can play the video before doing anything.
The app allows you to log in with all your accounts and change them easily. If you follow hundreds of accounts, you’ll be happy to know that you can list your favorites and access them quickly. This application is free and does not contain advertisements. Unlike ReShare Story for Instagram, it won’t let you download posts, but if you don’t need that option, Story Saver is your best bet. We have to mention that Story Saver is also available on iOS devices but you will have to shell out $8.99 as there is no free option. This version offers additional features and the connection is optional. Check if ReShare Story for Instagram is not suitable.
The Alternative – Save Instagram Stories on PC and Other Devices
What if you don’t want to install another app on your device or download stories on your PC? There are several websites that will allow you to download Instagram stories without logging in. In this regard, StorySaver.net is our preferred solution. You just need to enter the username of the account you want to check, and it will list all their active stories and highlights. Choose the story, tap on it (or right click on PC) and save it. The site is optimized for smartphones and tablets and contains a single ad that will not bother you.
Although it doesn’t offer the ability to download Instagram stories, DownloadGram.com will meet all your other needs when it comes to fetching content from Instagram. Just follow these steps:
- Paste the link of an Instagram post containing the photo or video.
- Click the download button below.
- Select Upload Video or Upload Photo.
That’s not all. You can also download IGTV videos in the same way. The only difference is that the download button will open another browser window and you will have to save the content manually. The clean interface looks great on all devices and there are no ads. The limitation is that you can only access the cover image of an Instagram post that contains multiple images.
Choose the right one
Apps like StorySaver and Reshare Story for Instagram are great solutions, especially if you need to not only download but also do more manipulation with Instagram stories. They both require you to log in, but will also allow you to verify the accounts you follow. However, if all you want is to download stories and highlights, the StorySaver website should be your choice with Downloadgram complementing it perfectly.
