If you’re using Google’s Gboard app on your smartphone as your default keyboard, you might notice some new changes. One of the biggest changes that you can easily spot is the emoji bar at the top of Gboard. It gives you quick access to emojis that Google recently added to the keyboard app.
But if you are browsing the internet or doing anything other than chatting, it will disappear because you don’t want it. The only problem with the emoji bar is that it makes the Gboard look a little bigger, which can be a problem on phones with a smaller screen. Although it has many uses, I find it redundant and at the same time it takes up more screen space.
Besides that, the emoji suggestion is also redundant. For example, if you write He’s laughing , the suggestion bar will automatically suggest laughing emojis. I think the suggestion bar is more useful than the emoji bar. Google was only able to integrate the suggestion bar with the most used emojis or integrate them into the keyboard with a long press. Anyway, in case you’re in the same boat as me and don’t like this bar, here’s how to remove the emoji bar in Gboard.
How to remove the annoying emoji bar from Gboard
The Gboard emoji bar is not enabled in all apps. For example, I can see it in WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and YouTube but strangely I can’t see it in Telegram or Instagram chats. Starting each chat application may take some time to find it. If you see it in an app, it’s relatively easy to remove.
Just swipe left on the emoji bar and you’ll see an option “remove the tape. Click on it.
Once you click the buttonremove the tapeYou will be redirected to Gboard preferences. At the bottom, turn off the toggle next to “Emoji quick access bar. Now when you return to the app, the emoji bar will be removed from Gboard.
As I said in the introduction, it would have been a much better option if the emoji bar had been combined with the suggestion bar. For more issues or questions, let me know in the comments below.
