Use iCloud to Backup WhatsApp Messages

iPhone users are in luck as iCloud allows them to backup WhatsApp messages. Backing up messages to iCloud is especially useful if users don’t have an iTunes backup. In this regard, we would really like to emphasize the importance of backing up messages. By doing so, you will be able to restore them if you accidentally delete them or if malware attacks your phone.

First, you will need to sign in to your iCloud account. Here’s how:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and go to “Settings”.
  2. Find “Connect to your iPhone” and tap on it.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID. The username is the same as the email address.
  4. The connection will start and take a few minutes.
  5. When prompted, you’ll need to type in your iPhone’s four-digit passcode.
  6. Once logged in, you will see your name at the top of “Settings”.

However, if you are already logged in, you can completely skip this step and proceed to backup messages to iCloud. Here’s how:

  1. Unlock your iPhone and go to “WhatsApp”.
  2. Find “Chats” and tap it.
  3. Now you will see “Chat Backup”. Click on it.
  4. Then you will see “Back up now” in blue. Press it.

In the “Chat Backup” window, you will see the size of the current backup in your iCloud and the date of your last backup. You can also choose to enable “Auto Backup” and schedule your backups monthly or weekly.

One important thing to know: your videos will not be backed up to iCloud because they will use up all the space. You can enable this feature, but if you only have 5GB, you’d better skip this step.
